Day Hiking Trails

Some ideas to get out in the mountains outside of Calgary. Make sure to always check the trail before going, either through a guide book, Alberta Parks or both. Proper equipment and skills are important to a safe and fun day in the mountains.

Kananaskis Country

  • Most of the hiking trails with moderate elevation gain. Lake O'Hara, Skokie, Mount Assiniboine, etc. Make sure to check avalanche conditions and have appropriate training before stepping out into the backcountry.
