Covid Update Effective June 23, 2020:

Now that Alberta has moved into Stage 2 of reopening, we remain committed to prioritizing your safety and helping you to prepare for your outdoor activities. We will now be open to the public, with additional fitting spaces, enhanced cleaning and capacity limits in place to facilitate physical distancing.

We have heard from some of our customers that they value personal shopping appointments, and we enjoy the opportunity to provide dedicated service, so we will continue to offer that service to our customers. If you would like to book a personal shopping appointment, whether that is due to concerns over Covid-19 or a preference for the service that we are able to provide with one-on-one shopping, please give us a call or click here.

Note: There may be multiple customers in the store during your appointment time, however you will have a dedicated space and a dedicated staff member to assist you for the duration of your appointment.

For those who do not want to make an appointment, you are welcome to drop by any time and we will provide our usual service and support on a first come first serve basis.

Covid Update Effective May 14, 2020:

We are excited to be re-opening the store as part of Alberta’s Stage 1. While the pandemic continues, the safety of our customers and staff is our top concern. We are all eager to spend time outside and in the mountains (especially with the reopening of Alberta Parks), and understand that to keep us all safe while outside, you need the right gear - some of which requires specific fitting and cannot be purchased online or via curb-side pick up.

To serve you best, the Norseman will be opening for shopping appointments beginning May 14th, so that we can provide the fitting and advice we are known for. This will allow us to limit the number of people in the store at a time, and allow time for enhanced cleaning between customers.

If you would like to come in for an appointment, we ask that you help keep everyone safe by:

  • Following Alberta public health guidelines regarding social distancing.
  • Do not come in if you have any symptoms of Covid-19 such as cough, fever, runny nose, sore throat or shortness of breath. We will be more than happy to help accommodate by rescheduling appointments or providing advice over the phone or email.
  • Following the policies and procedures we have put into place to help keep you and us safe, including the use of personal protective equipment when requested.
  • Please limit your appointment time to those individuals in your own household.

If you would like to make an appointment, please click here. Our door will remain locked between appointments, so when you arrive please call us so that we can welcome you in. If you have arrived without an appointment, we will still do our best to accommodate you but please be patient.

We understand that in-person shopping is not the right option for everyone, so we continue to be available over phone or email to help you prepare for your next adventure. Delivery and contactless curbside pickup are both available for online or phone orders.


Covid Update Effective March 28, 2020:

To comply with provincial and federal regulations, and to help keep our customers and staff safe during Covid-19, The Norseman will be closed to customers until further notice. However, we are still here to help you with your queries over the phone or email.

If you would like to make a purchase, you can do so through our website, via a credit card over the phone, or during curbside pick up via debit or credit. We continue to offer free shipping over $300, and curb side pick up is always free.

We will be available during our regular business hours to help assist you during this time.

Our workshop is open for service and repair, but in order to keep you and us safe, there will be a minimum 3 week turn around time for any repairs or services.

For those with outstanding rental gear, the Norseman has implemented a rental return drop-off at door system to allow customers to return their current rental equipment without having to physically enter the shop.

Covid-19 update on March 25, 2020:

In order to protect both customers and employees from the current Covid-19 outbreak, the Norseman is working to reduce inter-personal contact in order to meet the recommended requirements for social/physical distancing in a way that allows us to continue to assist our customers to gear up for summer without putting anyone at undue risk.

Effective immediately we will be operating on an appointment only basis. One appointment holder (individual/family) will be given access to the store at any one time in order to give us all space and opportunity to clean between visits.

Our summer gear, tents and boots have arrived and we’re eager to share them with you. The Norseman remains committed to providing superior customer service and products even in this current crisis situation.

We hope that this proactive approach will encourage positive mental and physical health for our customers by allowing them to get outside - safely, in allowed areas, and in appropriate numbers - all whilst adhering to social/physical distancing and self-isolation recommendations.

Of course, our website will still be open for on-line purchases, and we will still be available by phone or email to arrange appointments, offer advice & information, or make additional purchases by credit card.
