There is unprecedented interest in cross-country skiing and snowshoeing this season. We are thrilled to be able to help so many people discover, or re-discover, these amazing sports. However, due to the high demand we are very busy. We know that there are sometimes long delays to see a fitter as well as in-store wait times for service, and we are hard to contact on the phone – we apologize. We are working as hard as possible to get to you.
This season we are doing some things differently so that we can continue to provide personalized service and keep you safe. Below are some answers to frequently asked questions. We appreciate your patience and support – thank you.
Are you out of stock?
We do not currently have a full range of cross-country skis and boots (classic and skate, recreational and performance), as we are waiting for new stock to arrive. However, we do have a good variety of snowshoes. As of November 30, we have limited or no stock in the following areas:
- Women’s and Men's recreational classic ski boots
- Adult classic (waxless fishscale, waxable and skin) skis of all lengths
- Junior classic waxless fishscale skis above 141cm
- Toddler skis with strap on bindings
- Aluminium poles of all lengths.
When is more stock coming in?
More stock is expected to come in during December. However, due to the delays in manufacturing and the challenges facing the shipping companies, we are not sure exactly when we will receive or if we will receive everything ordered. In the week to November 30, the following were received:
- Kid's XC ski boots
- Various bindings
- Wax kits and other waxing products
- XC clothing including pants, gloves and socks
When is the best time to come in? I need skis/boots, how can I get these?
Due to COVID we are limiting the number of people in the store at any one time. We are doing our best to get to you as soon as possible as we don’t want you waiting outside in the cold.
The least busy days are Tuesday – Thursday, however we are still seeing more people arrive than we can serve on these days. While you are welcome to drop in anytime, we don’t want to waste your time - if you need to buy boots or skis and we are not able to serve you in a timely manner, we will take your name and number and call you to invite you back when we have a fitter to assist you. We work through this list on a first-come first-served basis for that day. You are welcome to contract us via phone to check on the wait time and join this list (if necessary). If you are shopping for waxes, clothing, etc., picking up your skis or dropping off for service, please come in when it suits you during our business hours.
I know what I want, can I purchase it over the phone/online?
Some of our inventory is online and available for purchase and these items can be purchased online then either picked up in store or shipped to you.
However, we do not sell certain items online - specifically skis and boots. We believe the fitting process is very important and appreciate the opportunity to go through that with you so that you get the right equipment.
What additional COVID related measures are in place?
In recognition of the ongoing public health concerns, we are limiting the number of people in the store at any one time. When you come in, we ask that you wear a mask or other face covering, as we are doing. We are cleaning high-touch points throughout the day as well as each night. In addition, there is hand sanitizer available throughout the store for your use.
That being said, there are still lots of people who come and go from the store each day. If you are looking to avoid as many people as possible, please book an appointment in the morning.
